It’s day two in my blog journey and overall I’m very confused about how the site works, BUT I got my first follower and I am super excited. I’ve been reading a lot on how to gain traction to my site and all of the post and articles seem to have one tip in common … share your site on other media platforms. Now I don’t mean to gloat, but I’ve racked up a pretty decent follower base on other sites throughout the years with my Instagram following surpassing 40k.
You’re probably thinking… girrrlllllll share that link on the gram!
And while that definitely would gain me some traction, that’s the last thing I want to do. I can’t stand my Instagram. I hate it entirely. I could write a novel about the negative effects of Instagram, but I’ll save it for another post. In a summary, my Instagram is no longer me. I stress about what I post, I’ll ask my friends before every post “Is this picture Insta Worthy?”.
“Insta worthy”… a term that’s was well known by my generation that means “good enough for Instagram”… I am good enough for Instagram? Does this picture portray me in a way that is worthy for the public? Well, my followers have made it clear that photography or any post that does not feature an airbrushed to perfection version of me is Not Insta Worthy. My pictures of nature get 200 likes, but my bikini picture received over 2000.
I want my blog to be a place where people are genuinely interested in what I have to say without the superficial judgment and biases. If I only end up with 30 followers I am perfectly okay with that. So, for now, I won’t be sharing my blog on other platforms and I’m beyond excited to start fresh.
And with everything being said, here is my Instagram if you would like to follow it https://www.instagram.com/daiseyjoy/ . …….. ahh the hypocrisy
